Fluidesign at 2024 GBRT November U19 Trials

Fluidesign athletes managed three top-ten finishes across men and women at the GBRT November U19 Trials alongside numerous other top 100 placings in a highly competitive field.

Marking the beginning of the official trials process for representation at the U19 World Rowing Championships and Coupe De La Jeunesse in the summer of 2025, athletes were tasked with racing down a five-kilometre stretch in Boston, Lincolnshire in time-trial format.

Our highest-ranking athlete was Edward Galer of Shiplake College, who finished seventh overall on the men’s side. Galer raced in Shiplake’s first eight last year, reaching the final of The Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta after winning bronze at the National Schools’ Regatta.

Ethan Hunt of Great Marlow School was tenth in a Fluidesign shell, building upon the impressive momentum the programme built in 2024. They were winners of the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head in March and also progressed to the A-final of open championship quads at the National Schools’ Regatta; Ethan featured in both boats.

Elsewhere, Luke Tanovic was 91st racing for Marlow Rowing ClubArtem Soloviov finished 119th in Hinksey Sculling School colours; William Clark placed 122nd for York City Rowing ClubAbingdon School’s Edward Botha finished 178th, and Henry Howe of the City of Cambridge Rowing Club landed 197th to complete the Fluidesign set for junior men.

On the junior women’s side, our fastest finisher was Naomi Bell of Wallingford Rowing Club, who placed tenth. Naomi raced for Great Britain as part of the GB-France contingent in July in a coxed four alongside clubmates Lucy Mead, Florence Schilizzi, Lily Clayton and Alice Hull.

Lauren Kennedy of Marlow Rowing Club placed 28th, in another indication that Pete Chamber’s programme is developing at pace. Marlow had three crews in Henley Royal Regatta finals in 2024, including two junior boats in The Fawley and Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cups. Ione Haley – who also hails from Marlow – finished 47th.

We had a flurry of top-100 finishers on the women’s side; Lucy Pitt of Lady Eleanor Holles was 55th, Cassie Anderson of Wycliffe College was 59th, Megan Davies of Trentham Boat Club was 75th, Madeleine Clark of Lady Eleanor Holles was 79th and Alice Pearson of Hinksey Sculling School was 88th.

Cymba Racing will be present at all major rowing events across the UK for the coming season and will have a full range of spares, rental boats and new availability for both Fluidesign and SL Racing shells.
