Fluidesign at 2025 GBRT February U19 Trials

Fluidesign opened its 2025 account with some excellent showings at the 2025 GBRT U19 February Trials, including four top-20 finishes across the men’s and women’s Saturday singles. With this event acting as a key indicator of form heading into the all-important spring and summer months, all eyes were on Lincolnshire to see how some of the UK’s finest junior talents could perform across singles, doubles and pairs.

Our best result came via Briony Wood of Glasgow Academy Rowing Club, who announced her re-entry into the competitive fray with a ninth-placed finish in the women’s single. Briony is a two-time winner of the Girl’s Championship Single at the National Schools’ Regatta and represented Great Britain at the GB-France Match in 2023. Still only a J17, she has been suffering from injury for a chunk of this season but still managed to squeeze into the top ten, 24 seconds off the pace of the division winner.

Elsewhere, Eve Pinsent and Lauren Kennedy of Marlow Rowing Club were 17th and 18th respectively in a strong result for Pete Chamber’s programme. Marlow made three Henley Royal Regatta finals in 2024 and will look to go one better in the two junior Trophies, where they finished as runners-up on both occasions.

Our final result in this division came from Ione Haley of Henley Rowing Club, who placed 30th overall.

In the men’s single, we had one representative in our shell; Ethan Hunt of Great Marlow School. His opening season marker was running out as the fourth fastest sculler and tenth overall at the November Early IDs and he finished 18th overall this weekend. Great Marlow School are a programme on the rise and we are looking forward to seeing how Ethan progresses through the system and attempts to emulate former teammate Sal Dunn, who represented Great Britain at the 2024 U19 World Rowing Championships.

There is much to look forward to in the coming months and Cymba Racing are looking forward to supporting all Fluidesign athletes in their ambitions, be those to win a local regatta or finally attain a British vest.
